I have been to Tuscaloosa, Alabama three times: May 2010 to move my daughter to the University of Alabama for graduate school, October 2010 to visit said daughter and deliver furniture, and August 2011 to move said daughter from a “room” rental to storage unit. I have stayed in the same hotel twice and as I look out to the west I can see the destruction left by the tornado. I have never seen tornado damage first hand, having grown up in the northeast. As I drove around today, I couldn’t help but, say “Look, at that, that was a house”, or “all the trees are gone”, and “I couldn’t see that before”.  Besides the amount of damage, I am surprised that there is not a huge magnitude of rebuilding. For the people not directly affected, their home or business damaged, they seem to be oblivious to their surroundings. It’s strange how life goes on…
